Friday 5: Books on My Summer Reading List

Friday 5: Books on my Summer Reading List

1. We Were Liars by E. Lockhart.

Yes, I’ve already read it earlier this summer. But have you? For more details on this suspense novel, check out a short-review here.

2. The Elite by Kiera Cass

This is the second novel in the Kiera Cass Selection trilogy. I absolutely loved The Selection, and am super stoked to read this sequel. Yes!

3. Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith

I keep hearing about this book through authors, friends, fellow teachers, on twitter chats…you get the point. I mean, a book where a town might be taken over by giant, killer insects? Totally piques my interest. That and the fact that I’ve only heard positive things about it!

4. The Diviners by Libba Bray

New York City. 1920s. Supernatural. Murders. Mystery. And the cover art reminds me of Gatsby. Enough said.

5. The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt

So, I started this book a while back and could not get into it. I think a lot of that had to due with juggling life as a new mom, having hardly any “me” time, and preparing to go back to work after maternity leave. After tons of people recommending this, I need to give it another honest shot.

Happy Reading!

  1. The big green book! Oh I’ve read Grasshopper Jungle. It is the most BIZARRE book I’ve read in some time. It’s so strange it’s hard to put down. Please read this over the summer if you can get your hands on a copy. I probably wouldn’t read it again, but I would hate to have not read it at least once.
